Justice and Nature in Plato’s Republic
The article offers a new interpretation of the city-soul analogy in Plato’s Republic. It argues that a correct understanding of the analogy ought to be based upon Plato’s theory of human nature and of the natural tasks (erga) assigned to everyone and each according to their own nature (physis).
