Fichte’s Concept of Immediate Selfconsciousness
In its first part the paper presents Fichte’s concept of immediate self-consciousness. The author relies here among others upon the analysis put forward by Dieter Henrich in his article on Fichte’s Original Insight. In the second part, the paper inquires into the systematic role of immediate self-consciousness (which Fichte labels „intellectual intuition“) in Fichte’s early science of knowledge. This part provides arguments for the thesis that described self-consciousness is to be connected with the absolute I of the first principle of Foundations of the Entire Science of Knowledge.
